Sterling Heights lies in Macomb County in the Michigan State in the USA.

The city covers a total area of 36.7 sq mi and has a population of 127,991 according to the 2006 census, which makes it the 4th largest in the state of Michigan.

The cities which surround Sterling Heights include Clinton Township to the east, Troy to the west, Utica and Shelby Township to the north and Warren to the south.

The city experiences warm summers and chilly winters with July being the warmest month and January the coldest. Although rains are evenly distributed all through the year, April is the wettest month, on average.

The city ranks as the 29th safest city in the United States and the safest city in the entire state of Michigan.

The city has a large metal stamping plant and is also home to the Lakeside Mall which has over hundred and eighty stores in it.
