The Albert Lea city has its own junior hockey team called Albert Lea thunder, their home ground is Albert Lea Ice Arena and they are members of the North American Hockey league. They started playing in the season of 2008-2009. The Albert Lea Art Centre in the opera house centre is one of the main tourist attractions of the city which was built in the year 1916 in the Bessessen historic style.
Other tourist attractions for recreation are boating, fishing and canoeing. It ranks second for fishing after Alaska. The speciality in fishing, of the state, is ice fishing. The other special sports attraction of the Minnesota state is skating, hockey, curling and broom ball. The city also hosts some rare sports activities like snowmobiling cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and snowshoeing. The national as well as the state forests and seventy two parks are used as a place for camping, hunting and hiking.
