Edina is a city which is situated in Hennepin County, in Minnesota. It is also a first ring suburb which is located to the southwest of Minneapolis. This city began as a small farming and milling community during the 1860s. At present, this city is a ninety five percent developed metropolitan community. Edina began as a part of Richfield Township, Minnesota.
The population was 47,425 people as per the 2000 census. In 2009, it shows almost -4.47 percent growth with 45,912 people.
As per the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 41.5 square kilometers, out of which 40.8 square kilometers is land and 0.8 square kilometers is water.

At present, the street names in the city are named after the families whose farms once occupied that area, like Code Avenue, Grimes Avenue and such street names.
