Tourist Guide Lake City

Lake City, a small city in the Wabasha County, is located in Minnesota along Lake Pepin. The city, which occupies a large portion of the Mississippi River, is popularly known as the ‘Pearl of the Mississippi’. With a population of around 5,300 inhabitants, the city is a beautiful historic town and ideal for nature enthusiasts.

The city has an ideal continental climate, characterised by the four seasons of spring, summer, winter and fall. Summers are characterised by hot and humid days, while cold temperatures and snowfall are common during winter.

Initially inhabited in the 1800s by Jacob and Philip Boody, the city was known as a popular ‘Grain Port’.

Tourism is one of the largest industries; agriculture, fishing and clamming are secondary sources of income. The city is the largest craft harbour on the Mississippi River.
