The Sleepy Eye Aquatic Center and the Lake Trail opened recently has a splash pool with fountains, play structure and water geysers. There are 2 large slides, a lap pool and a Lilly pad walk. There are a number of parks in the city including the South Park, Kiefer Park, Eagles Park, Sportsman Park, Allison Park and Prairie view Park.

These parks have playgrounds and a number of fields including volleyball courts, basketball courts and more. The Interpretive Center at Fort Ridgely explains the history of the battles fought at Fort Ridgely and lies just ten miles from Sleepy Eye city. The flour mill at Sleepy Eye is a favorite site for many and gives away promotional items from time to time.

The Sleepy Eye Historical Society founded the Sleepy Eye Museum which displays artifacts from the Sleepy Eye region. There are bugle corps and drums in the museum which won a number of state and national level championships. The museum has been included in the National Register of Historic Places since 1992.
