Columbus is a city in Lowndes County in Mississippi on the Tombigbee River. It is approximately 175 miles northeast of the city of Jackson. Columbus is located at 33° 29' 44" N, 88° 25' 38" W. It is in the Central Standard time zone. The city of Columbus has a total area of 22.3 sq mi, of which 0.9 sq mi is water. The city is hot during summer (Max. temperature in July 92.30°F) with temperatures in the vicinity of 80's and cold during winter (Min. temperature in January 32.2°F) with an average temperature of 40's. Rainfall is evenly distributed through out the year. Average annual rainfall is 55.91 inches.
