Jackson is the largest city in the state of Mississippi, USA; it is also the capital. Though it serves as the county seat of the Hinds County, parts of it lie in Rankin County and Madison County

Located to the east of the Mississippi River, Jackson lies on the west bank of the Pearl River, to the north of the Gulf of Mexico. The city is surrounded by a gently rolling terrain and alluvial plains, extending up to the river near Jackson.

Experiencing a humid subtropical climate, Jackson has very hot and humid summers while mild winters. The average annual temperature of the city is 18°C.

The population of Jackson is about 184,300. Jackson’s history is etched with the memory of three devastating fires, during the Civil War, which had left the city crippled. Now, known as the ‘Best of the New South’, it is a major business power in the state.
