Tourist Guide Meridian:

Meridian is a city in Lauderdale County in Mississippi. It is also the county seat of Lauderdale County and considered as the sixth largest city in Mississippi. The city has a rich past and a deep root in rail road history. The city was established in 1860 at the intersection of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad and the Southern Railway of Mississippi. This city heavily relied on the rails and the goods were transported on them.

Since the 1950s, the population of the city has been declining, and this decline has slowed after an annexation in 2006 and the influx of the displaced coastal residents after the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. The reason for the population decline lies in the city’s struggle to create a modern economy as per the new industries after the decline of the railroad industry.
The climate of the city is hot during the summers with 80 degree Fahrenheit and cold during the winters with 40 degree Fahrenheit. The warmest month of the year is the month of July with 92.90 degrees Fahrenheit and the coldest month is the month of January with Fahrenheit of 34.70 degrees. The annual average precipitation at the city is 58.65 inches.
