Some of the interesting places to see in Meridian is the Highland Park, the Jimmie Rodgers Museum, the Meridian Little Theatre and the Grand Opera House which was renovated in 2006. There is the around Town Carousels Abound, which is a public arts project of 62 carousel horses and it represents the historic Dentzel Carousel in Highland Park. There is the Bonita Lakes which is city owned with 3,300 acres of park including 3 lakes. There is also the Long Creek Reservoir and Lakeview Municipal Golf course along with nature trails in the lakes.
One can visit the Causeyville General Store which opened in 1805 as a gristmill and a general store. This store is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has many original fixtures and demonstrations of the gristmill working mode. The store is also the home of the city’s Mechanical Musical Museum, which is one of the most popular attractions in the area.
