Natchez is the county seat of and the largest and only incorporated city within Adams County in Mississippi. This city is known as one of the oldest cities in Mississippi and was founded in 1716. The city is located along the Mississippi River and is the southern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway. This city is famous for its American history and for its role of the Old Southwest with respect to its location on the Mississippi River.

As per the 2000 census, this city had a total population of 18,464, out of which there were 7,591 household people and 4,858 of families residing in the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.9 square miles, out of which 13.2 square miles is of land and 0.6 square miles is filled with water. That means, overall total area of water is 4.62 percent.

The climate of the city is semi tropical which all of the season experienced here. The winters are mild and the summers are quite warm. The average winter temperature is 53 degrees Fahrenheit and the average summer temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
