Pascagoula can be described as a city located in county of Jackson, Mississippi, US. It, in fact, happens to be one of the principal cities of Pascagoula, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Pascagoula holds the credit of being the main industrial city with regards to Mississippi, on the lines of Gulf Coast. This place, before Second World War, was merely a fishing hamlet having a population of around 5000. This number, however, increased later; thanks to war-driven ‘shipbuilding industry’.
As per US Census Bureau, area of Pascagoula on the whole, comes out to be 47.2 sq. Km; out of which 16.74%25 consists of water.
According to census conducted in the year 2000, population of Pascagoula was 26200; with its density being 666.4 per sq. Km.
This town was devastated on 29th of August, 2005 by Hurricane Katrina.
