Carthage is a city situated in Jasper County in the state of Missouri in U.S.A. The city covers a total area of 9.6 sq miles and has an elevation of 1,004 feet. As per the 2007 census, the city had a population of 13,343 inhabitants.
The city is nicknamed as ‘America’s Maple Leaf City’, as the city has several maple trees spread all through the region which change its color from red to orange and then yellow in the fall.
A festival called Maple Leaf Festival is thus held in the month of October for a week where a parade is carried out from the town square. The city has a cold but pleasant climate with an average snowfall of 9 inches and rainfall of 40 inches per year. There are 216 sunny days annually out which July is the warmest month and January the coldest.
