The Merrill J. Mattes Research Library & Archives is at the National Frontier Trails Museum. It is known as the largest public research library in the nation which focuses on the overland trails, the acquisition and settlement of the American West. Few years old, the library has some remarkable collection housing 3,500 volumes with many rare books of Western Americana.
