Poplar Bluff is the city in Butler County which is located in Southeast of Missouri. It is also the county seat of Butler County and is called as “The Gateway to the Ozarks”. As per the 2000 US census, the population of the city was of 16,651. This city is also the crossroads of U.S. Highway 60 and U.S Highway 67. This city is located along the Black River. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.6 square miles, all of which is land.
Poplar Bluff was founded as the county seat in 1849. It consisted of around 150 acres. The climate of this city is milder than its surrounding area due to the Ozark Mountains. It is humid with moderate temperature. The average annual rainfall in this city is 36.4 inches and the average annual snowfall is 10.6 inches. The average low temperature is 21 in winter and 65 degrees in summer. Further, the average high temperature in winter is 45 and 92 degrees in summer.
