Rolla city is situated in Phelps County in Missouri in United States. It is located midway between the large cities of Springfield and St. Louis. Rolla is the county seat of Phelps County. The first European-American settlers came to Phelps County in early 1800s, who worked as farmers and iron workers along the local rivers of Little Piney, Gasconade and Meramec.
The population of the city was 16, 367 people as per the 2000 census.
