Saint Joseph is the largest city in Northwest of Missouri. This city serves as the county seat for Buchanan County. Saint Joseph is the 8th largest city in the state. The St. Joseph Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Andrew, DeKalb and Buchanan counties in Missouri. This city is also home to the Missouri Western State University.

This city was founded by Joseph Robidoux who was a local fur trader and this city was officially incorporated in 1843. The main east west downtown streets were named after his children. There were over 73,912 people in the city during an estimation survey in 2007.

The annual average precipitation at the city is 35.24 inches. Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. May is the wettest month of the year with an average rainfall of 4.95 inches. The temperature in this city varies between night and day and tends to be moderate during the summer season.
