This is considered as one of the prominent historical and architectural location of the United States. The Old Courthouse has been the scene of many important events in St. Louis and national history.

The building was constructed in 1859 from a design by William Rumbold. It is best known as the place the Dred Scott slavery trails began in 1847, it was also the site where Virginia Minor’s case for a woman’s right to vote came to trail in the 1870’s
