Fairground Park in Saint Louis

Over 100 years of history are earthed and continuously growing within the Saint Louis Fairground Park. Located at Grand and Natural Bridge, the park is set upon the site of a widely popular fair in Missouri during the early 20th century that was later abandoned in the wake of the World Fair. Remnants of the original architecture remain, with the castle-like entrance to the park the original façade of the historical bear pits from the park’s original zoological park. In place of the long-removed structures are a number of entertaining activities that bring the community together on beautifully landscaped and rich scenery.

 The park features a nine-acre lake very conducive to fishing trips, as well as a swimming pool and spray pool. There is also a skating rink, eight lighted tennis courts, five softball fields, five baseball fields, four football fields and two field houses. With so many amenities, the 131-acre area seems to provide hours on end of fun—the perfect destination for families looking for fun, free physical activity. In addition, the wide open spaces, walkways and incredibly bold gardens create the perfect backdrop for a romantic picnic or peaceful solitude.

Long ago this park was a privately owned facility that hosted various public community events; now, the park belongs to the public and provides it daily with fun and entertaining attractions among the beautiful Saint Louis landscape. For information, call the Parks Department at 314 289 5330.
