Founded in 1895, the Sedalia Public Library is a municipal library which serves the Sedalia citizens. This library is governed by around nine member of Board of Trustees that are appointed for three year terms by the Sedalia City Council and the Mayor. The library was at first situated in the basement of the Pettis County Court house. Later on, it shifted to its present location. This present library was dedicated in 1901 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
