The city of Moline is located in Rock Island County in the state of Illinois, USA. Moline is one of the Quad Cities (cities which border the Mississippi river), along with Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf. The word ‘Moline’ is an adaptation of a French word for ‘mill town’.
The region has a rich history originally being occupied by Indians. Due to a dam constructed in the early seventeenth century, Moline grew as a milling town and was eventually incorporated as a city in 1872.
The annual average temperature is around 11°C. It is best to avoid travel between the months of November and February, when the temperature is particularly low.
With a population of around 43,700, most locals are engaged in commerce and industry. This region has a diverse mix of people, including Hispanics, Asians and African-Americans.
