In the Southwestern region of the Montana State in the United States, Big Sky is a census designated place. The location of this place is within the Madison and Gallatin Counties and it is almost in the midst of Bozeman and West Yellowstone. This place is situated immediately towards the West of the U.S. Route 191 and the River Gallatin. Big Sky consists of a ski resort of the same name. The gross area of Big Sky is 228.3 square miles out of which 228.1 square miles is occupied by land and water is spread over 0.2 square miles. The elevation of this place is 7,218 feet. The distance of Big Sky from Yellowstone National Park is 48 miles. There are more than 25 eateries, bars and restaurants in this place.

As per the 2000 census, the population of Big Sky is 1,221.

December is the coolest month in Big Sky with temperature ranging from 6.6 to 29.5 degrees Celsius. July is the warmest month with temperature ranging from 40.1 to 77.8 degrees Celsius. The average annual precipitation is 19.9 inches.
