The Kootenai River has a large amount of rainbow trout, Kokanee Salmon, bull trout, cutthroat trout and other species of fish and offers excellent opportunities for fishing.  In 1972, the Libby Dam was constructed across this river and this altered the ecosystem of the river and made conditions conducive for the fish to survive. This river also offers chances for observation of mountain sheep, deer, osprey and eagles.
