Tourist Guide Miles City
Miles City is located in Custer County, Montana, United States. The city covers an area of 3.3 square miles. The country is bestowed with green plains and prairie. Coloured sandstones and alkali buttes are scattered in the valley which merge with the Yellowstone River Valley and hills covered with Ponderosa Pines. Area has abundance of cottonwood and coal. Many rivers flow through this beautiful and charming area. Big Horn County was the original name of the Custer County till 1877 when it was named after General George Custer and the Battle of Little Big Horn.
In 2000 the total population of the city was 8,487. The area belonged to aboriginal tribes thousands of years ago. The Crow, Hunkpapa, Northern Cheyenne and Ogalala Sioux were the main tribes who lived in this area.
Extreme climatic variations are common in the area. The temperature ranges from -40 to 110 degree F. In a day the temperature can change even by 50 degrees.
