The Flathead National Forest has a tremendously large area of one million acres in the wilderness of the Mission, Great Bear and Bob Marshall Mountains. This forest offers refuge for threatened grizzly bears and endangered gray wolves. The beauty of the Flathead, Swan and Mission Mountain Ranges is dissected by the Flathead River, which is a favorite of white-water rafters.
