Tourist Guide Fremont
Fremont was founded in 1856 and was named after the American explorer, politician and military official General John C.Fremont. The city is located in the northeastern portion of Nebraska, along the Platte River, and is locally known as the “Paradise City”.
It is a regional, agricultural processing and healthcare center. Fremont is the county seat of Dodge County, Nebraska, and also the financial and social center of the area.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total land area of 7.4 square miles (19.2 km²). Fremont is approximately 1,203 ft above sea level and lying in the river plain between the Platte and Elkhorn rivers.
The climate is warm during summer when temperatures tend to be in the 70’s and very cold during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 20’s. Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. As of the census of 2000, there were 25,174 people, which make it the 6th largest city in Nebraska. The median income for a family was $45,259.
