Lincoln is the capital city of the state of Nebraska, United States. It is also the county seat of Lancaster County.
Located in the south-eastern region of Nebraska, Lincoln is bounded by the gently rolling prairies. The city lies along the Salt Creek, which eventually flows into the Platte River. The total area covered by the city is 195.2 sq km.
Lincoln experiences humid continental climate, having extreme variations in temperature. The mean annual temperature of the city is 11°C. The average temperature in January is –6°C while that in July is 25°C. Lincoln receives, on average, 600 mm of snowfall annually.
Having an approximate population of 552,600, Lincoln is the second most populous city in the state. The city gets its name from the former President of USA, Abraham Lincoln and is often referred to as the ‘Star City’.
