Nebraska City: Attractions and more...
This 72-acre state park, mansion, and arboretum is only one of its kind. The present-day neoclinical house consisting of 52 rooms started in the year 1855; just for ‘Julius Sterling Morton’, i.e. originator of ‘Arbor Day’ and ‘Secretary of Agriculture’ in 1890s with Grover Cleveland presiding over. Extension on its part took place a number of times. The recent one had occurred in the year 1903. One would find Empire and Victorian furnishings; most of which had been owned by none other than Mortons. ‘Sun Parlor’ comprises of ‘Tiffany Skylight’ with ‘grape wreath design’.
Right now, this mansion is functioning as museum; thereby containing several items with regards to Nebraska’s early history. Outbuilding which lies in the vicinity contains fire wagons, steam-driven vehicles, gasoline-driven vehicles, and early carriages.
