Lake McConaughy is located close to U.S. Highway 26 and Nebraska Highway 61 and is 9 miles towards the north of Ogallala. This man-made reservoir has a length of 22 miles, width of 4 miles and depth of 142 feet at full capacity. The water from the North Platte River flows into this reservoir. When it is completely filled, water is spread over an area of 35,700 acres and there is 105 miles of sandy shoreline.
