Carson City is the capital of Nevada, one of the states of USA. The city served as the county seat of the former Ormsby County

Located on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range, the city lies in the north-western region of the state, in the Eagle Valley. Carson City is bounded by the Virginia Range in the east.

The city has a semi-desert climate, boasting of 265 days of sunshine. The summers are hot and dry with July having an average temperature of 21°C. Winters are cold and dry with snow, the average temperature in January being 0.8°C. The annual snowfall received in the city averages at about 558.8 mm.

Carson City has an approximate population of 57,700 inhabitants. Founded in the surging days of mining, the city is now a major centre for mining silver and other important minerals.
