The desert around Vegas is hot and barren. Step inside the Las Vegas Natural History Museum and be greeted by a world full of all kinds of life.
From the depths of the ocean come such exotic species as the frogfish. From the depths of history come fossilized dinosaur footprints and a 35-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex replica. From a faraway desert land come the treasures of Egypt. Sharks and dinosaurs and mummies, oh my! Oh, and there are exhibits on lions and tigers and bears, too.
Though the Nevada desert is rugged, there are several plants and animals that scratch out a living there. Their fascinating story of survival is told in the exhibits, open daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
