Nevada has an area of 286,367 sq km and a population of nearly one million people. Its capital is Carson City.

Nevada is located in the western region of the USA. It is bordered by Idaho and Oregon in the north, Arizona in the south, California in the west and Utah in the east. The state is divided by several north-south mountain ranges, with some peaks rising above 4000 m. The Humboldt River intersects the state from east to west, while several rivers from the Sierra Nevada drain eastwards. A part of the southern region is within the Mojave Desert.

Visited Las Vegas from Australia during September 2012. Even though it was hot this didn't stop us enjoying ourselves during the day. The evenings were cooler and very enjoyable as everything became lit up. the shows were great, the accommodation excellent and the whole atmosphere very good. Having our own transport made a big difference giving us the opportunity to get out to see more than the normal tourist attractions. The major hotels were great to visit, especially at night. All in all it was a great experience and we will return to finish off all the places we were unable to visit owing to lack of time.
