Claremont is located about 52 miles north-west of Manchester in the Sullivan County in New Hampshire, United States. It is tentatively about 96 miles from Boston in Massachusetts. This city was incorporated in 1764.

The city was named after the Claremont Castle. It was initially inhabited by the people who built a dam on the Sugar River.
