Lancaster can be described as a town located in County of Coos, New Hampshire, US. It stands on Connecticut River, which has been named after ‘Lancaster, England’.

Lancaster is Coos County’s county seat. Furthermore, it’s a gateway to ‘Great North Woods region’. This town is inclusive of hamlets of South Lancaster and Grange. It houses Lancaster Fair and Weeks State Park. A portion of White Mountain National Forest lies in eastern portion. Lancaster is a portion of Berlin, NH-VT Micropolitan Statistical Area.
 
Having granted in the form of Upper Coos in the year 1763 by ‘Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth’ to ‘Captain David page of Petersdam, Massachusetts’, this town got settled in the year 1764 by David page, Jr.; along with Emmons Stockwell. The community had been endured by several Indian hostilities at that time. This fact got the town its present name. In other words, it got named for ‘Lancaster, Massachusetts’.

The population of Lancaster as per 2000 census was 3280.
