The city covers an area of 31.8 sq miles out which 0.9 sq mile is covered by water and rest of the 30.9 sq miles is covered by land.This city has a population of 86,605 according to the 2000 census, making it the second largest city in the state. Around 34,614 households and 22,083 families reside in the city as of the census. The major part of the city’s population belongs to the White origin (89.25%25), with small percentage of other races.New Hampshire’s first Lyceum was established in Nashua before 1830. The Nashua Lyceum was chartered to encourage, advance, and establish a shared culture and heritage of higher education and enlightenment among all the citizens of Nashua.
