Tilton, located in the Belknap County, New Hampshire was originally a part of Sanbornton town. Known as Sanbornton Bridge or the Bridge Village was incorporated as Tilton in 1869. It is about 31miles north of Manchester in New York.

This town was named after Charles E. Tilton, he fourth generation of the original settlers.

Tilton has a total area of 12 square miles (31 square kms) which is segregated into 11.4 square miles of land 0.6 square miles of water. The Silver Lake and the Winnisquam Lakes from the eastern boundary of the city.

The city experiences an average annual rainfall of 40 inches and snowfall of 71 inches. The warmest month is July with temperature around 83 Degrees Fahrenheit and January being the coolest month with temperature around 7 Degrees Fahrenheit.
 
The city had a population of 3,477 as per the US census Bureau. The city sees a population growth rate of about 4 per cent.
