Asbury Park public library was founded by Helen M. Bradley, wife of Asbury Park founder James A. Bradley, in 1878 as the Ocean grove Asbury public library association. It was incorporated as a free municipal public library in 1901. The library was built with a mission to enable community members to participate fully and share equitably in the benefits of the information revolution.
