Attractions
Residents of the state are commonly called ‘New Jerseyans’ or ‘New Jerseyites’. This diverse state has been inhabited by Native Americans for nearly three millennia. New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the country, and has a large percentage of the population as African-American, Hispanic and Arab and Asian Americans.
The octagonal Colgate Clock in Jersey City is said to be the largest clock in the world. Erected in 1924, this 15 m wide clock is now a prime city attraction. The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark is one of America’s largest gothic cathedrals. The city is also famed for its architectural beauties like the Newark Museum, which has a very alluring Tibetan collection. The Liberty State Park allows visitors spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty, while the historic lighthouses of Sandy Hook and Barnegat Light draw quite a lot of visitors.
Exciting Jersey events include the Taste of the Nation, the Quick Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning (a popular summertime hot air balloon festival held in July), the Highlands Oktoberfest and the ever-alluring Pumpkin Festival at Cape May. Also celebrate American independence with fireworks and entertainment during the Seaside Heights Fourth of July Celebrations at the Boardwalk.
