Tourist Guide Bayonne
Bayonne can be described as a city located in county of Hudson, New Jersey, US.
As per tradition, Bayonne has derived its nomenclature from city of ‘Bayonne, France’. It has been believed that French Huguenots went on to settle there a few years back prior to discovery of ‘New Amsterdam’. Walloons that were French-speaking, were amongst a huge percentage of ‘population’ at the time of mid-17th century. Name might have been given by them. However, no ‘historical records’ have been found to have this proved.
History dating to the year 1904 suggests that Bayonne was the name given by area developers as it lies on shores of 2 bays, New York and Newark. As such, the term ‘Bayonne’ means ‘on the Bays’ or ‘Bay-on’.
Climate of Bayonne is of ‘humid subtropical’ type.
As per census conducted in the year 2006, population of Bayonne was 58844.
