Tourist Guide Bloomfield
Bloomfield incorporated as township from Newark Township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 23, 1812. The name was taken from the Presbyterian parish, which had been named after the Governor of New Jersey Joseph Bloomfield. Bloomfield covers 20.52 square miles (total area of 5.3 square miles) included several villages which left Bloomfield during the course of the nineteenth century. As per the census of 2000 Bloomfield’s township population was 47,683. Population density was 8,961.5 people per square mile. Bloomfield is located at 40° 48’ 11” N 74° 11’ 20” W.
There were several racial communities like Whites, African American, Native American, Asian Pacific Islander & other races living here. It has a society mixed with all races. New Jersey highway artery that serves Bloomfield is the Garden State Parkway.
