Montclair is a township in Essex County in New Jersey. It was formed as a township in 1868 and reincorporated as a town in 1894.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 6.3 square miles of land. The township is situated on the first mountain of the Watchung Mountains. And most of the town is towards the east side of this ridge. Due to this, many locations offer magnificent view of the surrounding area and the New York Skyline too.
It is the 50th largest municipality as per the population. As of the United States Census, the population was 38,977. In 2009, it is 37, 052 giving a population growth of -4.28 percent.
Montclair has a temperate climate with warm humid summers and cold winters. The month of January tends to be the coldest month with 21 degrees and the month of July is warmest with 86 degrees. The township gets 44 inches of rain and 2 inches of snowfall each year. There are 295 sunny days each year in this township.
