The resplendent culture of the state is manifested in the various art museums present. Museum of Indian Arts & Culture/Laboratory of Anthropology, Museum of Fine Arts and Museum of International Folk Art, all represent the fine art from the region.
The rich historical heritage of New Mexico can be witnessed at the historical site of Coronado State Monument. Fort Selden State Monument reflects the military life of the past. The Jemez State Monument is perhaps one of the most beautiful prehistoric sites in the South-west. It includes ruins of a 500-year-old Indian village and the San José de los Jemez church dating to 1610.
New Mexico hosts an array of events and festivals. Some events to look forward to are, the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque and the Hatch Chile Festival. The Santa Fe Indian Market is the biggest exhibition of Indian art and craft. For a unique experience, attend the International Balloon Fiesta and witness hundreds of colourful hot air balloons take to the vibrant azure sky. The Santa de Film Festival is a fusion of seven festivals that celebrate excellent cinema from all over the world.
