Santa Fe is the capital of the US state of New Mexico. It is America’s oldest capital city and also the highest, with an elevation of more than 2,100 m above sea level. Santa Fe is the seat of the Santa Fe County.
Although the city has the Santa Fe Municipal Airport, travellers prefer using the Albuquerque International Sunport, which is located to the south of the city and is an hour’s drive away.
Santa Fe experiences warm summers with temperatures rising higher than 30°C, and cold winters with temperatures between –10°C and 4°C. With about 13 cm of snowfall in the winter months, several people come to Santa Fe to ski.
Santa Fe has more than 70,000 residents. Owing to its rich cultural heritage, Spanish history, outdoor activities and a tourist-friendly climate, it receives a lot of visitors every year.
