Amityville which is located in the Babylon town in the Suffolk County in New York is an upscale village. The village spans across an area of 2.5 square miles. Of the total area 15%25 is covered by water.

The total population of the village in 2000 was 9,441. The place is well known due to the novel named “The Amityville Horror” by Jay Anson which was based on the real life murder cases in the village in November 1974.  The house which was used in the films and novel is still there but the address has been changed in order to avoid tourist visits.


Amityville due to its moderate climate is a very good place to live. There is very low precipitation in the city which averages at 4 inches. The De La Soul, the hip hop group belongs to this place.
