Tourist Guide Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a town situated in Montgomery in New York. This town lies near the city of Amsterdam and in the northern borders of the country. This town is located at an elevation of 666 feet and falls under the time zone Eastern (EST) (UTC-5).  As per the population census of 2007, this town has a population of 17,572 people. The town totally covers an area of 30.3 square kilometres; out of which 29.7 square kilometres is covered by land the rest 0.7 square kilometres by water. Northern borders of the town are marked by Fulton County; south defined by Mohawk River and east by the borders of both Schenectady County. Amsterdam is a developed city and the reflections of the development can be noticed in its well built hospitals, schools, churches and government buildings. This town was established in the year 1973 from a part of the previous ‘Town of Caughnawaga’. Incorporation of the Village of Amsterdam in the year 1838 resulted in the removal of more territory from the southern areas of town and the development of the village made it the City of Amsterdam.
