Tourist Guide Brockport
Brockport can be described as a hamlet situated in ‘Town of Sweden’ in county of Monroe, New York, US.
The name ‘Brockport’ has been derived from ‘Hiel Brockway’, i.e. one of the early settlers.
Brockport addresses itself as ‘The Victorian Village on the Erie Canal’. Off late, it went on to remodel rural portion of Erie Canal; thereby making ways for bricked walkway, loads of art pieces, and a novel visitor’s center.
Brockport got incorporated in the year 1829. It had been founded in the year 1820. The importance grew in the form of a port along Erie Canal. It was also terminus of canal till its western end got completed.
As per US Census Bureau, area of Brockport is 5.7 sq. Km; out of which 2.26%25 consists of water.
Population according to census conducted in the year 2000 was 8103; with its density being 1448.4 per sq. Km. 19.2%25 of total population was found to be below poverty line.
