With three major airports, thousands of buses, hundreds of miles of subway lines, two great railway depots, more than 13,000 taxicabs, ferries, pedicabs, horse-drawn carriages, water taxis and more, New York City is undoubtedly one of the best transportation cities in the world…And, now find which is the best way to get around and see the city: the NYC Transit Subway is operated by  MTA – the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Due to its 656 miles of track, it is the largest rapid transit system in the world and each trip costs only $2 per person .If you want to get somewhere that the subway doesn’t go, you can hop on New York City Transit buses. It is also the fastest, least expensive way to enjoy all the famous places in the entire city, thanks to an Unlimited Ride Card, that allows you to hop on and off NYC Transit subways and buses as many times as you like, all day long. You can buy it at many hotels, but also at subway station vending machines with your debit or credit card or cash and you can choose from several Unlimited Ride MetroCards, such as 1-Day Fun Pass or 7-Day Unlimited Ride Metrocard.

The yellow taxis take you to every part of the city, that is not covered by the MTA and their fares are very convenient .

The Staten Island Ferry which connects Whitehall Terminal , near Battery Park, to the Saint George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island. The classic orange double- and triple – decker ferries run 24 hours year-round and it is free of charge. Don’t miss this free harbor cruise past the Statue of Liberty, with a breathtaking view of lower Manhattan.

The Tram is a unique aerial link between Manhattan and Roosevelt Island that provides beautiful views of the skyline and the East River and it costs only $2 one-way fare.
