John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport situated in the south east of New York City in the burrough of Queens near Lower Manhattan.
Earlier named as Idlewild, the airport was later named after the late President John F. Kennedy in 1963.
The main airlines operating from here include United Airlines, Delta Airlines, JetBlue Airways, American Airlines and British Airways. The airport handled passenger traffic of more than 47 million in 2010.
The airport has 9 passenger terminals arranged in a U shape around the central area which consists of hotels, a power plant and other airport facilities.
