The most dominating mode of transport in New York City is the metro. The city comprises of a complex network of railways.
This is the most popular mode of transport due to its convenience, frequency and price. This transportation mode is the oldest in the whole of North America. The railway in the city also comprises of the subways.
The cost for the traveling tickets for metros is lesser than any other mode of transport. Hundreds of people in New York City travel by these metros every day.
Tourists can find information about the metro lines and their destinations on various stations. There are two types of metro cards.
One of the metro cards function on pay per ride basis or the traveler can buy the metrocard that can be used on an unlimited basis.
With the help of a second card, the traveler can take unlimited rides for a restricted duration. The duration may vary from 1 day to \30 days.
There are special discounts for disabled and senior citizens.
