Tourist Guide New York:

New York, ideal setting for many books and films, may be familiar long before getting there!

The most interesting and attractive area is, no doubt, Manhattan, where easy is to get around by bus, taxi or tube!

Fifth Avenue which divides the East Side from the West Side, is an area of smarty elegant hotels, unique shops, Tiffany is here, and department stores!

New York or the Big Apple as it is commonly known is all in all!
How curious is a walk among the many high skyscrapers where anyone feels what really is there: small!

The Big Apple is a kind of little multicoloured universe where people from nearly any part of the world live in such an incredibile maze of streets and not!

Unbelievable is the number of museums, astonishing the architecture, infinite the shopping possibilities tourists are offered to, especially in Madison Avenue!

Five districts: Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, make of New York what it really is: a lively, sparkling cosmopolitan city!

Astonishing in New York are the so many neighbourhoods like Harlem and the Spanish Harlem, the Puertorican Area, Chinatown, the Jewish Quarter, Greenwich, Soho and Little Italy notorious in all world!

USA: Nothing is considered worse in this country than 'not tipping' .. Taxi drivers/ guides.. Everyone expects tips.. Taxi Drivers/Tour Guides expect as much as 20-25%..!!! I think 10-15% is enough.. In taxi infact, just round off & just add 2-3 $ more if the bill is around 20-30$.. Hotels have no porters.. you need to take your luggage to your room on your own.. Luggage Trolleys at ALL Airports are charged..! All Internal Flights in US are like Budget airlines.. You dont get anything to eat.. just a soft drink.. All these airlines charge for more than 1 check in suitcase, EXCEPT southwest ... More airlines, which allows 2 suitcases (20 kgs each).. Please have a converter handy to understand Pounds (weight), Gallons (volume), Fahrenheit (temperature).. Madame Tussauds Wax Museums: Every Major US City (NYC, DC, LA, Vegas) has a Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.. I didnt go in any as i have been to London's.. You can go in any one where ever you have more time.. Or skip it altogether.. Natural History Museums: Similar to Madame Tussauds, every Big city in US has a natural history museum too..!! But the best one is in San Francisco in the California Academy of Sciences.. It also has a really nice 3D planetarium show.. Huge Dinosaur Skeleton in the central lobby, huge aquarium, really nice REAL natural forest created in a Huge enclosed chamber with live spiders, insects & birds.. Even its rooftop is a natural garden to see.. So, in a nutshell, Natural History Museum to visit only in San Francisco.. Its the best.. New York: New York is divided into 5 Boroughs: Manhattan (Most Imp), Bronx (Notorious for crime), Brooklyn, Queens (JFK Airport is here) & Staten island.. New Jersey is RIGHT NEXT DOORS.. just a tunnel ride across the Hudson River which flows on one side of Manhattan.. The other side of Manhattan has east river flowing into the sea.. 3 Bridges run from Manhattan to Brooklyn namely (BMW) : Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge & W... Bridge (soory forgot this name!).. All of following are in Manhattan.. * Times Square @ Night.. QuiteNice.. Click photos against the famous Nasdaq LED wall and other dazzzling LED screen displays.. * Empire State Building Observatory @ 86th floor.. Very nice.. Can Avoid going further to 102nd floor.. It looks the same.. Go in the day.. U can see till very far.. At night, all lights up.. But it looks the same in all directions.. * Skyride @ Empire State building (2nd level).. Not bad.. Simulated helicopter ride over Manhattan in 4D.. Not bad but if short on time, can easily be skipped.. * Boat cruise to Statue of Liberty.. No use getting down at liberty island as entry to the statue & museum on the statue's pedestal is closed due to renovations.. So, just take the cruise which takes u around it, rather than the one that stops there.. Unless you have some spare free time.. If u get down at liberty island, There's a food court @ the island with decent price.. Veg was also available.. Not bad.. Please DO NOT get down at the other island on this cruise (Ellis island) anyways.. Waste of time.. Just some borrrring museum on American History..!! Yawn..!! TIP: Take the New York Water Taxi.. Its Hop on Hop off Big Ferry boat.. and is quite good.. will also take you to brooklyn (across east river) and the Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum in Hudson River (mentioned below) * Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum.. A Huge Aircraft carrier Ship anchored in Hudson river, converted into a museum.. Nice.. * Walk on Brooklyn Bridge.. I took a ferry (5$) to Brooklyn & then walked another 1-2 kilometers or so to reach the starting point of Brooklyn Bridge.. To walk back on it to Manhattan.. Really nice.. one can hire a bike and cycle down too.. * Top of the Rock.. 70th Floor Rooftop of Rockefeller Plaza, overlooking central park on one side & emipre state building on the other.. Completely Avoidable as view from Empire State Building is better.. Why unnecessarily spend and go up on another high-rise rooftop..! * NBC Studio Tour.. Rockefeller Plaza is also home to NBC News Studios.. You could take one.. But advance reservations are required.. When I tried, it was full for next 2-3 days..!! * National Sept 11 Memorial.. Ground Zero.. Nice.. Just eerie to see HUGE, gaping, square 'holes' with water falls, where World Trade Centre towers once stood.. Nice experience.. But airport level security checks for entry.. Prior booking needs to be done on the net (for free).. * Central Park.. A stroll in this is verrry rejuvenating.. Nice to just laze/walk there if you are around and have some free time.. U can even rent a bike for half an hour (or more) and just cycle around inside.. It has water bodies etc.. * The Bronze Bull near wall street.. Not bad.. Worth a photo with it if u can manage/have interest.. Nearby inside a street is New York Stock Exchange.. Frankly, Just another building at the end of the day.. * Museum of Sex.. Interesting.. Do not miss.. * I took a hop on hop off bus tour too which took me around entire Manhattan.. Not bad.. * I took a metro pass which allowed me to travel freely in subways and buses.. * Shuttle service to/from JFK or other New York Airports: www.supershuttle.com/ www.goairlinkshuttle.com/

Well I'm mainly talking about Manhattan here. A very busy vibrant city. Clean and safe. We never saw any dubious characters during our stay. So much history to enjoy, the people are friendly, the food very affordable but predictable. Tourism is high, loop buses provide a highlight with humour hole delivering the very interesting history along the way. Bad point they think Aussies don't know about tipping.

NYC is the most exciting and fulfilling holiday - it is everything and more. From the usefulness of the hop on hop off bus to the subway and the mapping you offer online - i was able to book hotels - find locations to destinations, get what is new and get a shuttle to take me to all the places before i even arrived. NY never to be forgotten.

Tours are too expensive. Check for free places to visit. Visit governor's island. Take free Staten Island Ferry. Visit south seaport at night. Eat at Joes at 47th street, next to Times Square. Try to learn buses and subway routes in advance. This way you will enjoy more of the city. Remember, to visit everything you need to live there.

Anyone who loves a crowded and a busy place will love this city. Fashion is a must, make you feel good being in this city. Visiting New York in Black Friday was so much fun, for any shopaholic, since you will never guest how cheap branded stuff will cost.

Watch your back and you will be ok. Expensive restaurants and cheap joints and cart foods. Cheap second hand book sellers in front of port authority bus terminal. Nice ferry ride to Staten Island and enjoy any time at Times Square.

This is the Hub of the Universe, and all the styles and fashions are coming across and melting into new trends and tastes... And you may find here what you need - if you understand the logic of the City

If you go to the Statue of Liberty, catch the 1st ferry there. It departs 8am. You will find this to be the only quiet time. Also, you need to book weeks in advance to have access inside the statue.
