St. Patrick Cathedral is situated on 5th avenue between the fiftieth and fifty first streets in the city of New York. This is the largest Cathedral in the US, erected according to Gothic style.
It can accommodate more than two thousand people and has been the main centre representing the catholic culture. Over 51 million tourists come each year to this cathedral, which is hundred and twenty five years old, to pray and visit. One is enthralled by the marble and wood sculptures, altars and stained glass windows found within the cathedral.
The windows of the cathedral are made by artists from Boston, Chartres and Birmingham. The Pieta’ of the cathedral is 3 times bigger than the Pieta’ of Michelangelo and was sculptured by Araldo Perugi.
This cathedral made of white marble was nominated as a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
